Dress Making

Dress Dates

  • Sunday, 18th February

What to expect...

10am to 4pm - The Skep - Farsley - £49

You will spend the day making a shift style dress which has zips, sleeves and facings incorporated into the design.

The dress is a simple shape which is fitted on the bust by sewing darts. You will insert a concealed zip to the back of the dress, and learn to insert sleeves. The length of the dress and sleeves is completely up to you... there's even the option to add snazzy flared sleeves too!

As this session incorporates lots of techniques you will need to cut your pattern and fabric at home. But don't worry, detailed, fail safe instructions on how to cut your fabric will be sent to you upon booking. You will therefore need to purchase your pattern and fabric before the class. We will be using Simplicity Pattern 8293 (which is available to purchase here) Exact details for fabric will be sent upon booking.

Cotton, poly-cotton, tartan, linen, light-weight tweed, or light-weight denim fabric are all suitable options.

Bring your own sewing machine, if you have one. If you need to borrow a machine just contact us and we will reserve one for you. You will be able to walk out of the class with a stunning dress to be proud of... handmade by you!

Is this Session for me?... This session is perfect for someone who has used a sewing machine before or if you have attended our beginners sewing session, or if you are self taught and would like to learn to make clothes specifically. You may also enjoy this course if you are not quite able to get that professional finish at home.
